Athlete of the Week

Sean Tappan

Sophomore pitcher Sean Tappan of the baseball team has been selected as the DVC/Pete's Pizza Athlete of the Week for the period of May 12 to May 18.

In his lone appearance of the week, Tappan pitched a complete-game, six-hit shutout and led the third-seeded Aggies to a 5-0 victory over No. 2 Wesley College in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region semifinals on May 17.

Tappan permitted just five singles and one double while walking two and fanning five. Only three Wesley players reached scoring position over the nine innings of play.

Tappan finished the 2008 campaign with a 5-5 record, 54 strikeouts and a 2.69 ERA in 67 innings of work. The Aggies went 25-18, qualified for the Freedom Conference playoffs and reached the ECAC South Region Championship Game where they dropped a 6-5 decision to top-seeded Alvernia College.
