News JAKUBOWSKI NAMED TO ALL-REGION SECOND
TEAM DOYLESTOWN (PA) - Delaware Valley College third
baseman Zach Jakubowski (Audubon, NJ/Audubon) capped a senior year to remember
by being named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)-Rawlings Mid-Atlantic
Region Second Team. Jakubowski, who was also named the Freedom Conference
Player of the Year two weeks ago set career highs in every offensive category.
He led the conference in batting (.453), hits (67), total bases (106), RBIs (47)
and triples (9) and placed second in both slugging (.716) and on-base percentage
(.530). He also notched 40 runs scored, nine doubles, four home runs and six stolen
bases. Jakubowski's nine triples not only set an Aggie single-season record,
but has him currently ranked third in Division III in the category (the World
Series starts this weekend). His hit total tied for second on the school's single-season
list and he also placed in the top 10 in RBIs (third), runs scored (tied for eighth)
and batting (10th). For his career, Jakubowski owns the Delaware Valley record
for triples with 15 while his 106 RBIs and 162 hits have him ranked fourth and
sixth respectively. Delaware Valley finished the 2008 campaign with a
25-18 record. The Aggies qualified for the Freedom Conference playoffs and were
then selected for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region
Championships where they finished as the runner-up. | |
