With
14 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships, four regional titles and three NCAA
Division III top-five finishes, Delaware Valley has one of the premier wrestling
programs in the country. The Aggies have not had a losing season since the 1969-70
campaign and have posted three undefeated campaigns in their history.
In
addition to 14 conference titles, the Aggies have also had 12 runner-up finishes.
Nationally, the 1988-89 Aggie squad went a perfect 18-0 and earned the Division
III number one ranking during the season. They crowned three individual national
champions that year and finished as the nation's runner-up. In 2004, Delaware
Valley finished fourth at the NCAAs and brought home a national trophy. In
2007, the Aggies went 17-2 and captured the Midwest Regional crown. Three wrestlers
qualified for the NCAA Championships and one came back as an All-American with
a second-place finish. The following year, they successfully defended their regional
crown, sent eight wrestlers to nationals and tied a school-record with four All-Americans.
That helped Delaware Valley finish in fifth place in the team standings. The
Aggies have had eight individual national champions, 55 All-Americans and 97 MAC
champions come through their program. One of the national champions is current
head coach Brandon Totten, who captured back-to-back Division III titles in 1995
and 1996. Shaun Smith, who went 88-1 with three NCAA Division III championships
during his Aggie career, is an assistant coach with the program. Choose
