04/01/08 Update: Congratulations Delaware Valley College! We're now in 48th place out of 145 participating schools. DelVal has recycled 37,531 pounds of product, which amounts to over 14 pounds per person!
Delaware Valley College has a long, established history as a leader in environmental sustainability. To continue this tradition, DelVal has joined the RecycleMania program, a friendly competition between college and university recycling programs. RecycleMania provides the DelVal campus community with a fun, proactive activity in waste reduction.
Over a 10-week period, our campus will compete in different contests to see which institution can collect the largest amount of recyclables per capita, the largest amount of total recyclables, the least amount of trash per capita or the highest recycling rate.
The main goal of this event is to increase student awareness of campus recycling and waste minimization. All participating schools are required to report measurements on a weekly basis in pounds. RecycleMania provides many ways to gain recognition, including RecycleMania trophies, awards and participant certificates.
Please do your part to help DelVal smash its goal of 15 tons of recyclable glass, plastic, aluminum and paper over the next 10 weeks. If you have a recycling container in your classroom, dorm, office or work area, use it! If you don't have access to an easy place to place recyclables, try to improvise and make one.
