Delaware Valley College now offers the Microsoft Office 2007 suite on nearly all of our computers used by Students and Faculty. Because Office 2007 is very different from previous version, and because the formats used are sometimes incompatible, we've begun this FAQ to help you.
Q. Can I still used Office 2003?
A. Yes. All of the computers that have Office 2007 installed should also have Office 2003 installed. We decided to keep the older version as an alternative for people who are not comfortable with 2007 or prefer to work in the 2003 interface. Please note that the default version for opening documents can vary depending which computer lab you are using, and which version was last used.

Q. Are my Office 2007 documents compatible with older version (2003, 2000, 97).
A. No. By default, Office 2007 documents are saved in a new format with extensions such as .docx and cannot be opened in previous versions. If you know your file will need to be opened by a previous version, or if you are unsure and want to guarantee the best compatability, use the following steps to save your file:
1. Click the Office Button (the round button in the upper left with the Office logo).
2. Select the Save As option.
3. Select "Word 97-2003 Document" from the Save a Copy menu.
