Did you know that over the last several years the department has been building a natural history museum of mammalian skins and skulls to complement our existing herpetology collection? Dozens of students and technicians have assisted Dr. Fortier in collecting, preparing and cataloging an impressive array of study materials for both native and exotic mammals. The collection now contains hundreds of specimens to aid students studying the mammal taxinomy.
We have recently applied for additional state and Federal permits and plan to start building an avian collection. Stop by the Research Center to peruse the latest additions to our growing museum or to talk about how you can participate.
