The DelVal Difference

At Delaware Valley College, we emphasize an applied approach to your education. Our hands-on approach to teaching is the hallmark of the DelVal educational philosophy; students take advantage of our living laboratories, provided through the Small Animal Science Center and livestock herds at the college, as well as the wild animal collection at the Elmwood Park Zoo. The DelVal Small Animal Science Center contains colonies of various laboratory rodents, rabbits, dogs and a diverse collection of fish, reptiles and amphibians. The Elmwood Park Zoo features over 150 species of wildlife, including jaguars, cougars, wolves, bison, elk, prairie dogs, otters, bobcats, alligators, eagles, owls and numerous other North American animals. With hands-on training, students learn how best to care for a wide variety of creatures.

DelVal provides low student-to-faculty ratios, small class sizes and the individual attention that accompanies an intimate learning community. We are proud to provide a faculty composed of teaching professionals; all professors in our department hold the highest degrees in their fields, either the DVM or Ph.D. Their technical expertise, scholarship, professional connections and true dedication to teaching add up to an outstanding training program. You won't find teaching assistants at DelVal; our dedicated faculty are involved with students on a daily basis, guiding clubs, providing academic and career advising and interacting with students at many levels.

Our beautiful rural setting of over 550 acres encompasses both working farms and natural areas with a wide variety of habitats. Delaware Valley College is located in the heart of the culturally rich New York - Philadelphia - Washington corridor. We are only two hours from New York and less than an hour from downtown Philadelphia; in fact, the R5 Septa line stops right on campus! Despite the hub of activity, however, our large campus maintains its unique rural/suburban charm.
