Assistant Professor Veronica McGowan joined the faculty of the CBIS Department in 2004. She is a member of the Web
Excellence and Information Security committees and co-chair of the Professional Development Committee at Delaware Valley College. In past years, she has served on the Ad-hoc Committee of Committee Efficiency and the 2007 Search Committee for an English Tenure Track Faculty Member. At DelVal, Mrs. McGowan is an advisor for Sigma Alpha Sorority, Alpha Lambda Chapter and has presented faculty presentation entitled, "Freshmen Computer Literacy Knowledge” and “Intellectual Property Violations."
She has taught as an adjunct faculty member at DelVal, Montgomery and Bucks County Community Colleges and Penn State - Abington. Mrs. McGowan has also worked at local elementary schools as a computer, elementary and special education teacher; she currently holds Pennsylvania certifications in Elementary Education and Special Education for grades K - 12. Veronica McGowan's industry experience was as a programmer for the Internal Revenue Service in Philadelphia. Her primary academic focus is programming and web design.
Mrs. McGowan is currently attending the Widener University's Doctoral Program in Academic Leadership. She has earned a B.A. in Computer Science from LaSalle University, where she received the Award for Computer Skill Excellence, and a M.Ed. from Holy Family College, where she graduated Cum Laude.
Mrs. McGowan's professional memberships include the Progammer's Guild and the American Educational Research Association. She also is a peer reviewer for the Consortium for Computing Sciences in Colleges (Eastern Conference). Mrs. McGowan is fluent in the following computer languages: Java, C++, C#, VB.NET (and 6.0), VBA, VBScript, JavaScript, Perl, ASP.NET, HTML, XML, PHP, and COBOL.
