Research

In my research, I strive to bridge gaps between academic theory and industry practice and to explore how technical content can be better explained, prepared and adapted for the improvement of computer science education. Over the years in academia, I have been involved in numerous projects: preparing individual publications, participating in institutional projects, working as a team member and a team leader and completing hypothetical studies and applications in industry.

My research agenda focuses on two areas: first, on concerns related to the practice of computer science education; how the teaching methods, curriculum, program and development can be analyzed and improved; and second, how the marketing, content and design of Web sites attracts and retains users. Specifically, I am interested in these areas of computer science education: object-oriented programming, Web design, graphics. In addition, I am committed to expanding the knowledge of and improving the use of Web design for higher educational institutions. Specific interest areas are: student perceptions of Web sites and Web pages, usability testing, Web page artifact analysis, student, faculty and administration use of Websites, organizational and departmental site development, page ownership, institutional Web site design, Web governance committees, and Web standards in the higher educational arena.
