Admission Requirements
You may enter the Education program either as an Education major or as a major in another academic discipline seeking teacher certification. To be admitted, you must graduate from high school with at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA). The program at DelVal is rigorous, and students are evaluated at the end of their sophomore years. To continue, you must have completed three credits of college-level English literature, three credits of college-level English composition and six credits of college-level mathematics. A GPA of 3.0 or higher is required and must be maintained through graduation in order for Delaware Valley College to recommend you for Pennsylvania certification. Education majors must also take and pass the industry’s Praxis PPST tests in reading, writing and mathematics.
Education graduates benefit from the intensive studies. During the 2004-2005 academic year, the pass rate for PPST tests was 100 percent.
