Linda Maisel

Linda Maisel is an Associate Professor of English at Delaware Valley College. She received a B.A. in English from Millersville University and an M.A. in Linguistics with a certificate in TESOL and Ph.D in Linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Maisel teaches courses in composition, business communications, history of the English language and linguistics. These courses are especially relevant to her research interests, which include the structure of languages and their function in social interaction.

In addition to reading the written work of English speakers, Dr. Maisel is interested in studying the oral traditions of other cultures, especially the Maya of Central America. Prior to her arrival at Delaware Valley College, Dr. Maisel was a teacher of English as a Second Language at the English Language Institute at the University of Pittsburgh, an editor at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia, a member of the English Department at Spring Garden College in Philadelphia and a freelance copywriter.
