Friends of Equine
The ProgramThe Delaware Valley College Equestrian Center plays an integral part of the academic program at Delaware Valley College. Our emphasis upon hands-on practical application of the skills expected by employers prepares students for careers in the equine industry. Students take part in Equestrian Center operations, acquiring basic skills in horse care and stable management. The fact that our Equestrian Center has been recognized by the British Horse Society as an Official Approved Riding Establishment acknowledges our attainment of an International standard of safety, quality instruction, and equine care.
The extensive on-campus training facility includes the Equestrian Center, a beautiful 84 x 280 foot indoor arena with elevated viewing area and attached stabling for 48 horses, a 120 x 90 foot outdoor jumping arena, a Round Pen, separate hay barn, and paddocks for ample turn-out. Surrounding the Equestrian Center are acres of pastures, farmland, and cross-country trails.
Delaware Valley College is located in Doylestown, PA, in the heart of beautiful Bucks County. Just thirty miles north of Philadelphia and seventy miles south of New York City, the surrounding area provides ideal locales for horse shows, events, polo games, and other equestrian activities. The College’s Equine Studies Degree Programs are well regarded in the industry for providing students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary for success.
Building for Tomorrow
Maintaining an exemplary Equestrian Center is vital not only to the continued success of the Equine Studies program, but also to support the regional equestrian community. The Equestrian Center hosts shows, clinics, demonstrations, and seminars open to the public.
Unlike most traditional educational units, the Delaware Valley College Equine Studies program must maintain an unusual operating budget. As a tuition-driven private institution, funding capital projects is a challenge. Additional sources of financial support are vital to support the extraordinary costs involved with improving and maintaining the facility. Essential projects include implementing upgrades to the indoor arena and stable, renovating the indoor arena footing, and replacing paddock fencing with improved materials. Additionally, Friends of Equine is currently seeking donations for the FOE Scholarship Fund, that will support meritorious students in the department.
Friends of Equine donations build lives. By creating a more competitive, vibrant, updated facility, the college will be better prepared to meet the needs of future generations of young equestrians.
