The Food Science and Management department at Delaware Valley College resembles a small, boisterous family. This is the best way to describe the department. My experience at DelVal was unlike any one else I know because of the teachers and students that make up this family. I spent my time there getting a wonderful degree in Food Science, but also making some of the best friends I will ever have. They are the "brothers" and "sisters" I saw every day, joked around with, worked side-by-side with for the four years I attended. You really get to know people when you spend hours working in preparation for an all-campus event. The professors make learning enjoyable. Because of that close relationship, I was able to get a job after graduation that I absolutely love. I consider myself blessed to have spent so much quality time with my extended family and earn a degree in the process.

The experience I received from DelVal’s Food Science department was one that was unforgettable. Between the faculty, staff and student body within the department, it made me feel right at home. The small class sizes promoted learning, because questions were answered and not ignored. This aided in the development of self-esteem and confidence, which one needs upon graduation. With the help of alumni, I was able to get an unbelievable internship at Campbell’s Soup Co., which I was able to boast on my resume. Let’s just say that the Food Science department at DelVal gave me the tools I needed to succeed, and that is just what I’m doing. One month after graduation, I landed a job with National Starch and Chemical Company, where I am working as a Food Technologist.
