A grant is a gift of money. Grants are awarded by private foundations, corporations, federal, state and local government agencies, and sometimes individuals. Grants are often made for a particular purpose like constructing a building, creating a new program, research, or scholarships. But grants can also be given for general operating expenses or to build the endowment. The college needs to apply for any grant it gets and this process is managed by the Office of Institutional Advancement.
