DELAWARE VALLEY COLLEGE TO PARTICPATE IN
AREA TAX-ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

DOYLESTOWN, Pa., -- (January 30 , 2007) - Delaware Valley College business students will again provide free tax preparation assistance to Bucks County low income families beginning Thursday, February 1 with a kickoff at 10 a.m., in the Joseph Krauskopf Memorial Library on campus.

The program is part of the United States Internal Revenue Service's VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program and this is the third year the program has been offered by DelVal students.

Beginning with the kickoff on February 1 and then continuing through April 14, DelVal students will be available on Thursday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Business, accounting and biology majors have been trained and certified by the IRS to perform the free tax service for "qualified" low income individuals/families.

The Opportunity Council, which helps low-income working families become economically self-sufficient, will recruit Bucks County residents who are eligible to collect an earned income tax credit (EITC) refund. During the program's first two years, DelVal students helped 415 families/households work through the complexities of tax returns and completed with $696,960 in refunds, earned income credits and saved service fees.

TWO STUDENTS EARN HONORS AT FARM SHOW

DOYLESTOWN, Pa., -- (January 19, 2007) - Two Delaware Valley College sophomores majoring in large animal science, Abigail Onyon of New Milford, Pa., and Megan Eick of Easton, Pa., earned honors for preparing and showing five DVC beef animals during the 2007 Pennsylvania Farm Show held last week.

Their efforts resulted in a fourth-place award for a DVC Angus Jr. heifer calf, a fifth place award for a DVC Early Spring Hereford heifer; a sixth-place award for a DVC Angus Jr. heifer calf and a seventh place for a DVC Angus Jr. heifer calf. All five animals are owned by Delaware Valley College.
The two students were supervised by Rod Gilbert, DelVal's livestock production manager and Jeramie Hoffer, assistant livestock production manager.

RETIRED DELAWARE VALLEY COLLEGE PRESIDENT CHAMPIONS
BUYING LOCALLY GROWN FOODS

DOYLESTOWN, Pa., -- (January 15, 2007) - Retired Delaware Valley College President Emeritus, Dr. Joshua Feldstein, will join a panel of experts to discuss locally grown foods and how to feed your family wholesome foods during a Bucks County Audubon Society event on Saturday, January 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Honey Hollow Visitors Center in New Hope, Pa.

In addition, Feldstein will join other area experts to discuss the local farming community and the loss of farm land in Bucks County.

DELAWARE VALLEY COLLEGE NAMES DEAN OF BUSINESS, EDUCATION, ARTS AND SCIENCES

DOYLESTOWN, Pa., -- (January 12, 2007) - Benjamin E. Rusiloski, Ph.D., of Doylestown, has been named Dean of Business, Education, Arts and Sciences at Delaware Valley College effective January 9, 2007.

In this position, Rusiloski will be responsible for overseeing all academic related matters including program development, evaluation, faculty development, strategic planning and budgeting for the business, education and arts and sciences departments at DelVal.

Rusiloski has been a member of the DelVal faculty since 1994 when he joined as an assistant professor of chemistry. Since then he has earned tenure and the title of professor and has chaired the Chemistry and Biochemistry and Mathematics and Physics departments.

Among his service credits to Delaware Valley College, Rusiloski is a member of the College's Faculty Council, the Academic Standards Committee, the Curriculum Committee and the New Faculty Orientation Committee. He has served on the President's Strategic Planning Committee and was Chair of the Faculty Work Team when the College conducted a Middle States Accreditation Review from 2001 through 2003.

He presents and lectures frequently at workshops and other colleges and has written and/or reviewed chapters in Chemistry textbooks.

Rusiloski twice received the Student Government Faculty Service Award from DelVal's student government association in 1998 and again in 2005; the William Allison Award for Outstanding Service to the Student Body at DelVal; the Ruth and Joel Spira Teaching Award for excellence in teaching and mentoring at DelVal; the Delaware Valley College Distinguished Faculty Member Award and has held the Sarah and David Levin Chair. He also earned the King's College "Leo Award," an alumni award given for outstanding achievement and the Harleysville National Bank and Trust Company Great Professorship Award.

Rusiloski graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in chemistry, American Chemical Society certified from King's College. He earned his Ph.D., in physical chemistry from Duke University.

DELAWARE VALLEY COLLEGE LAUNCHES MEDIA AND COMMUNICATION MAJOR

DOYLESTOWN, Pa., -- (January 11, 2007) - Beginning in the fall of 2007, Delaware Valley College will offer a major in Media and Communication.
Designed to offer students well-rounded and comprehensive learning opportunities necessary to launch a career in communications, graduates of the program will be well-suited for positions in public relations and journalism, photography, video and film production, web design and e commerce.

In addition to Delaware Valley College's core liberal arts coursework, students will complete courses in video production, digital photography and editing, writing for radio, television and the Internet, Web design, news reporting and writing, e commerce, writing and media management.

"This program has been designed to reflect the enormous change that has occurred in the communication industry," said Jack Schmidt, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Mass Media and Communication. "Advances in digital communication and the World Wide Web have created a wide range of opportunities for students interested in working as multi-media communicators."

DELAWARE VALLEY COLLEGE TO
HOST FIFTH ANNUAL LIBRARY TEA

Doylestown, Pa., -- (January 11, 2007) - Pianist and entertainer, Fred Miller will present "With a Song in Your Heart - Songs for Valentine's Day," during the annual Friends of the Library Tea, noon to 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2007 in the All-Purpose Room of the Student Center on the Doylestown campus.

Tickets for the event are $20 and benefit the Krauskopf Library at Delaware Valley College. Miller will present a musical and anecdotal overview of love in American popular music.

A pianist, singer and lecturer, Fred Miller has spent the last several decades in many musical fields including grand opera, musical comedy, classical piano and chamber music. He is founder and director of the popular Copper Penny Players, a ten week singing class for amateur singers begun in Manhattan in 1981. In recent years, Miller created Singing Telegrams USA, original, proclamation tributes in verse and song created for a variety of situations and occasions including birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, job promotions, weddings and other notable attainments.

Students majoring in the Food Science and Management Program prepare and serve lunch and tea.

DOYLESTOWN, Pa., -- (January 3, 2007) -Ted Staniewicz of Doylestown has been named director of Physical Plant Operations at Delaware Valley College.

Staniewicz joins the DelVal staff with nearly twenty-five years of educational facility management service, most recently as assistant vice president of Facilities Management at Saint Joseph's University. Prior to that, he was director of operations at the Central Bucks School District and post engineer at Valley Forge Military Academy.

Following the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001, Staniewicz served as deputy program director of airport baggage screeners for the Transportation Security Administration.

Staniewicz earned his bachelor's degree from Catholic University of America and has completed professional development and technical seminars for ADA, HVAC, IAQ, school finances and construction and institutional animal research through Dun & Bradstreet and Rutgers University. In addition, he completed the Blanton-Pearle Graduate Institute through New York University.
