Honors Events

Throughout the academic year, the Honors Program offers a variety of events. Some events are educational and feature guest speakers, while others are health-focused, and some are simply fun! Students can select which events to attend, so long as they participate in at least two events per academic year.

Crumbl Cookie Tasting

Join us for a Crumbl Cookie tasting and conversation with DelVal food science expert, Laura Herbst. Professor Herbst is the chairperson of the Department of Agribusiness and Food Science Technology.

 

Trivia Night 

Join us for trivia night! The event is open to all DelVal students, but you’ll compete on a team with other Honors students for great prizes.

 

Guided Forest Therapy Walk with Professor Ricotta 

Join us for a 90-min guided walk with DelVal professor, Dr. Jackie Ricotta. Dr. Ricotta is the chairperson of the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture. Most of the walk will take place on pavement or short grass. It incorporates principles of mindfulness and the Japanese practice of forest bathing known as shinrin-yoku.

 

Flight to Freedom: How One Family Escaped Nazi Germany 

Join us for a conversation with Rabbi Lance Sussman as we learn about Rabbi Sussman’s family history and the importance of Holocaust education. Rabbi Sussman also will share his family’s artifacts from the Holocaust.

 

The Blue Revolution 

Join us for a conversation with “The Blue Revolution” author, Nicholas Sullivan. In his book, Sullivan discusses the transformation of commercial fishing and presents a novel approach to fish, food, and oceans.

 

Yoga 

Join us at this yoga session. You can bring your mat or borrow one DelVal provides. The yoga session will last about 45 minutes, and is open to all (all bodies, all students, all levels of experience). Wear comfortable clothes and come to the Coffeehouse.
