"Mélange means a medley or mixture of different things which is what this new lounge is supposed to represent and celebrate.” –Briana Davis '23
The Mélange Multicultural Lounge, located on the first floor of the Student Center, is a space for students to gather, express their individuality and celebrate diversity. Diversity and inclusion is a key part of DelVal’s strategic plan. The University’s Division of Campus Life and Inclusive Excellence continues to work with the President's Commission on Diversity and Inclusion, a group made up of people from across campus, to support diversity and inclusion work on campus.
The Mélange Multicultural Lounge is a space for students to gather, fellowship, and feel respected, safe and heard. The space itself has multiple seating areas that can be moved to form whatever configuration best suits students' needs. Clubs use it for meetings and events such as diversity dinners and the annual African American Read-in. All are welcome to use the space during open hours.
The lounge is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. unless a club or organization is using it. Students may request to open the lounge off hours if they contact public safety.
