Professor Johnston/Kim earned her B.S. in Small Animal Science and Conservation from Delaware Valley College and her M.S. in Molecular Biology from Lehigh University. Kim spent several years working on viral vaccine research at Merck Research Laboratories before joining the DelVal faculty in 2009.  She also has additional graduate work experience in Microbiology and Immunology from Drexel University.  

Kim teaches Biological Sciences Laboratory,  Genetics, Genetics Laboratory, and Immunology for the Biology Department. Professor Johnston/Kim has mentored several research projects for students studying gene function using RNA interference in Caenorhabditis elegans and DNA barcoding methods. Professor Johnston/Kim advises the DelVal Co-Ed Soccer Club and the DVU chapter of the Sunshine Foundation. Kim enjoys all activities outdoors (hiking, kayaking, running) and is an enthusiastic birder.
