Dr. Samanthia Johnson
Dr. Samanthia Johnson is an assistant professor of animal science in the Animal Science Department. Her teaching and mentoring philosophy is rooted in the exceptional mentorship she received during her Ph.D. training and a commitment to helping students discover their potential. Dr. Johnson strives to create an inclusive learning environment where students from all backgrounds feel welcomed, supported and empowered to pursue their academic and professional goals. Dr. Johnson’s path to animal science has evolved from having no prior livestock experience to developing a passion for ruminant research and identifying innovative approaches to improve livestock production. After recently completing a Ph.D., Dr. Johnson is excited to begin the next chapter as a faculty member at DelVal, combining research, teaching and mentorship to inspire the next generation of animal producers. She is passionate about helping students build confidence, explore new ideas, and realize that there is a place for them in animal science, regardless of their background or experience.
