Delaware Valley University Launches its First Agriculture-Focused Graduate Degree Program

Building on its rich history and strengths in agriculture and business education, Delaware Valley University is launching a new Master of Science in Agribusiness Management. The 10-course, 30-credit curriculum is designed to prepare students for senior management positions in the food and agriculture industries. The online program will launch in fall 2020 with courses beginning in late August. 

"Delaware Valley University has a strong history of educating students in agriculture and business," said Dr. John Woznicki, dean of the University's School of Graduate and Professional Studies. "In the past, we have offered graduate specializations that relate to agriculture, but this is our first degree program that will focus on an agriculture-related topic. We have wanted to offer a graduate program specifically focused on agriculture for quite some time and we're excited to be realizing that goal this fall. Students in this program will learn from leading professionals, who will bring their experience into their courses, providing relevant examples and case studies."

DelVal currently offers an undergraduate degree in agribusiness, as well as many other related undergraduate programs.

"Adding this graduate-level program in agribusiness will enhance the experience for current undergraduates," said Dr. Broc Sandelin, dean of the University's School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. "Students will be able to continue their education through this DelVal program instead of having to go to another university for graduate school. They will also have opportunities to connect with a broader network of professionals in agribusiness for career and internship opportunities through this program."

Required courses for the M.S. in agribusiness include: Managerial Economics; Management of Agricultural Technology; Agricultural Markets and Prices; Applied Decision Analysis in Agricultural Markets; Financial and Risk Management in Agriculture; Globalization of Agricultural Markets; Legal Issues in Agriculture and Food; Agricultural, Food, and Trade Policies; Agribusiness Supply Chain Management; and Strategic Agribusiness Management.
