Delaware Valley University Names Thomas A. Debrowski ’72 to Board

Thomas A. Debrowski ’72, a Delaware Valley University alumnus and business executive who has held leadership positions with national brands, was recently named to the University’s Board of Trustees. 

“We are pleased to welcome Tom to the Delaware Valley University Board of Trustees,” said DelVal President Dr. Maria Gallo. “His career experience in business working for large brands that are household names will help the University as we implement our new strategic plan. I am grateful for his continued, active involvement and support of the University.” 

Debrowski is currently an executive partner at Calera Capital, a private equity firm. Before joining Calera Capital, he served as executive vice president of worldwide operations at Mattel, the leader in the design, manufacture, and marketing of toys and family products (including Barbie, Hot Wheels, Matchbox, American Girl, Radica, Tyco R/C, and Fisher-Price). Working at Mattel’s worldwide headquarters in El Segundo, California, Debrowski was responsible for ensuring the efficiency and quality of all worldwide manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain activities. He also oversaw the operations and distribution departments, which included: global sourcing; procurement; manufacturing operations; operations finance and strategy; operations technology; product integrity; operational planning; environmental affairs; and health and human safety. Prior to joining Mattel, he worked for The Pillsbury Company and Kraft Foods, Inc.

Debrowski grew up in New Jersey. He earned his B.S. in horticulture from DelVal in 1972. Since graduating, Debrowski has been an actively involved alumnus of DelVal, having previously served on the President’s Advisory Council and, in 2013, as a Watson Executive-in-Residence speaker. He won the President’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2014. 

Debrowski also currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Friends of Golf, Inc., an organization that supports junior golf programs. His past civic involvement includes: Bel-Air Country Club; International Council of Toy Industries CARE Foundation; The Commonwealth-American School, Lausanne, Switzerland; Mattel Children’s Foundation; National Food Processors Association; National University of Singapore Business School; Save the Children Foundation; Production and Operations Management Society; and the Speech and Language Center.
