DelVal Announces Sixth Annual Spark Bowl, a "Shark-Tank"-Style Competition, on November 20

Delaware Valley University (DelVal), the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce (CBCC) and Startup Bucks are hosting the sixth annual Spark Bowl Competition on November 20, 2025 in Delaware Valley University's Life Sciences Building auditorium. Spark Bowl is a "Shark Tank"-style competition that encourages entrepreneurs, innovative businesses, and nonprofit organizations to address social, consumer, and business-oriented challenges in and around Bucks County. Prize money will be awarded to support the top three competing teams.

Sponsors will have the opportunity to support local entrepreneurs, existing businesses, and nonprofit organizations wishing to impact economic growth and prosperity in Bucks County. They will receive invitations to a networking event leading up to the Spark Bowl. This presents a chance to be showcased at the event and featured on the Spark Bowl website with sponsorship details. A link to make a gift online to support the event can be found at delval.edu/spark.

Applications for participants are open. Interested businesses can find more information at delval.edu/spark.

"Spark Bowl results from a distinctive partnership between the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce, Startup Bucks, and our Department of Business and Information Management at DelVal," stated Tanya Casas, Dean of The School of Business, Arts, and Sciences.

As part of DelVal's experiential learning program, DelVal students will serve as business consultants for the finalist teams who will pitch their ideas to a panel of judges. Businesses paired with DelVal student consultants will generate innovative, problem-solving ideas to support the economic growth and prosperity of local communities. Spark Bowl is more than a competition, it's a chance for DelVal students to gain real-world experience.

"Spark Bowl provides students with an opportunity to work hands-on with a real entrepreneur or a real business, give advice, and see how things work in the real world with starting a business and running a business," said business administration student, Katia Holmes '27.

Last year's Spark Bowl winner was Horus Health, an AI auditing and billing system, primarily in healthcare. The company expedites the job of an auditor in efforts to streamline billing and compliance services. The second-place winner was Level Up Logistics, LLC, a female-owned trucking, transportation, and carrier business. The third-place winner was Vivaldi, a startup with a solution to instantly verify building designs against international construction codes, provide feedback, and approve plans for projects to move forward.

The judges will be local entrepreneurs who have a high degree of success in the business world. The top three teams of student business consultants will also be eligible for cash prizes. Last year, the winners walked away with a total of $21,000 in prizes.
