DelVal Mourns the Loss of Registrar Emeritus Oskar H. Larsson

Delaware Valley University Registrar Emeritus Oskar H. Larsson '52 passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 7. He was 91 years old. He was a resident of the Pine Run Community in Doylestown for the past 10 years and previously a resident of Chalfont for 25 years.

Born in Philadelphia, Larsson was the son of the late O. Hugo Larsson and Emily Duncan Larsson. He was raised at Ardrossan Farms, in Ithan, Pennsylvania. Larsson served in the U.S. Navy Reserve during World War II.

He received a bachelor's degree from DelVal, and a master's in education from Lehigh University. He was the Registrar at DelVal for more than 34 years before retiring in 1989.

Larsson was the husband of the late Ruby H. (Sinclair) Larsson for 59 years before her passing in 2011. He is survived by three children, Barbara J. (Dennis) Livrone of Doylestown, Debra S. (Ronald) Blough of Furlong, and Scott T. (Maureen) Larsson of Horsham. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving Larsson is his dear sister Anna M. Bainbridge of Almond, New York, a niece, and three nephews.

He was a member of Doylestown Presbyterian Church since 1955 where he served as Deacon, Elder, and Clerk of Sessions. He was a past president of the Lenape Valley Golden Age Club and was an active member of the Pine Run Community, serving as treasurer of the Villagers group, making daily announcements, and volunteering at community events. He also enjoyed traveling extensively with his late wife, Ruby, to Europe, and to Africa.

His family wishes to thank the administration and staff of Pine Run Community, especially the nursing staff and aides at the Health Center and Ascend Hospice, for their kind treatment during his final weeks.

Relatives and friends will be received at Doylestown Presbyterian Church (address below) on Monday, Aug. 20 at 10:00 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. followed by fellowship and refreshments in DPC’s Celtic Cross Room. Interment will follow at The Baptist Church in the Great Valley, 945 North Valley Forge Road, Devon, Pennsylvania 19333.
