Jennifer Sauer has been selected as Delaware Valley University’s next vice president for finance and administration. Sauer, who brings 32 years of experience in higher education to the position, will join DelVal July 18. She was chosen from a pool of more than 100 applicants after a national search.

“I am extremely pleased that she will be joining the DelVal community and our leadership team shortly after my arrival,” said Dr. Maria Gallo, who will begin her tenure as DelVal’s next president on July 1. “The impact she made on the Immaculata budget process is significant. Her references characterized her as a straightforward and compelling communicator and an insightful team player. She is someone who motivates by example and DelVal is fortunate to have her coming on board.”

Sauer is currently vice president for finance and administration at Immaculata University, a position she has held since 2011. At Immaculata, she is responsible for: finance, human resources, administrative services, facilities, capital planning, dining services and information technology. She led efforts that netted Immaculata nearly $1 million in annual savings. She also developed a financial plan that saved the University on interest on existing debt and planned for interest savings on any additional debt the school incurred.

Prior to Immaculata, Sauer spent 25 years at the University of Richmond, where she held several positions including associate vice president for business and finance and associate vice president and controller. Sauer holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Virginia Tech University. She has also been a Certified Public Accountant since 1981.

“After a transformative period of change at Delaware Valley University, I am looking forward to joining the community during such an exciting time,” said Sauer.  “I am thrilled to partner with Dr. Gallo and the current leadership to further the mission of the University while overseeing the finance and administration team. I work in an open and collaborative manner, and look forward to this next chapter of my career.”

At DelVal, Sauer will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to: finance and administration, dining services, facilities, human resources and technology services.

She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers and the Association of Independent Colleges & Universities of Pennsylvania Member Services Committee.

Sauer succeeds Art Glass, who left DelVal in February, to take a position at Mount St. Mary College in New York.

She resides in Malvern, Pennsylvania. Sauer has two grown children who live in other states, and a 17-year-old son at Great Valley High School.
