Delaware Valley University has been opening itself up to the public for A-Day, an annual event and a favorite with many, since 1949. A-Day is a student-organized event, which raises money for scholarships. The 2016, “A Deep Rooted Tradition,” event will be held on DelVal’s main campus in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, Friday, April 22 through Sunday, April 24.

When it first began at DelVal, A-Day, short for "Activities Day," was a single day where DelVal students worked together to showcase various agricultural displays and exhibits. Today, A-Day is a whole weekend and continues with the hard work and dedication of the students at DelVal. The event now showcases what students are doing in a wide variety of majors from DelVal’s three undergraduate schools: business and humanities, life and physical sciences and agriculture and environmental sciences. Students studying majors such as business, literary studies, counseling psychology and chemistry now take part in the popular event with agriculture students to showcase what they are doing at the University.

The event will include the usual favorites from previous years such as: homemade milkshakes, family fun, livestock judging, hayrides, food and craft vendors. New attractions for the 2016 event are: food trucks, a chainsaw carver, a children's scavenger hunt and fried Oreos.

All of the programs are planned and operated by the students with minimal guidance from faculty and administration. The heart of A-Day is a planning team, which includes representatives from 30 campus clubs and organizations. There are 21 executive team members and 21 committee members elected by the participating clubs and organizations.

Members of campus clubs who participate as active members of A-Day can earn money for their organizations by working in a variety of booths, tents, or exhibits throughout the weekend. Many students who are committee chairs also act as club representatives, organizing the club hours and working assignments for the weekend.

A-Day is part of the Pennsylvania State Association of County Fairs. Traditional and popular events are sure to interest every member of the family. Children are sure to learn new facts while having fun exploring DelVal’s educational exhibits.

Parking and Directions: There is no admission fee to enter the campus of Delaware Valley University for the weekend of A-Day; however, there is a parking fee of $10 to park in designated areas. All vehicles must enter the designated parking areas from New Britain Road off of Butler Avenue or Lower State Road during the weekend festivities. During A-Day weekend, there will be no access to campus off of Lower State Road via Farm View Road. Handicapped parking is available for those with state-issued plates and/or parking permit. The University is located at 700 East Butler Avenue, in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
