Alumni Success in Cannabis Studies
Our first cohort of cannabis studies alumni have secured positions in the field post-graduation. Where are they now?
DelVal’s cannabis research program, unlike most other cannabis programs available today, takes an educational approach that includes a strong, science based, theoretical foundation complemented by experiential learning and training opportunities with cutting-edge technologies that include several hands-on laboratory exercises throughout the curriculum. The cannabis research program is led by Dr. Carla Garzon, K.H. Littlefield Endowed Professor of Plant Science, and is focused on diverse aspects of controlled environment and field hemp production and processing, as well as manufacturing hemp derived products. Many of our recent alumni from the Class of 2024 have secured positions in the field of horticulture or cannabis.
Justin Kaufman ’24, a crop science alumnus and former research intern in the cannabis research program, has started an internship at the USDA-ARS Hemp Germplasm Repository in Geneva, NY, where he is conducting hemp genetics research with a focus on terpene segregation.
Katherine Stewart ’24, a horticulture alumna, certified in Horticulture Therapy, and specialized in Cannabis Studies, is currently working as a horticulturist at Bucks County Nursery with a focus on nursery crops and IPM and providing customer support.
