Delaware Valley University Assistant Professor and Department Co-Chair William K. Viel began his academic career at Cornell University. He left Cornell to join Procter & Gamble to replenish his college fund and finished his bachelor’s degree at California State University, Fresno. He then earned his MBA at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He eventually embarked on a lengthy career with the German Chemical Co. B.A.S.F., advancing from U.S. sales management to division vice president and finally international business development vice president. In this role, he began cultivating his interests in economic history, entrepreneurship and innovation by creating new start-ups and helping existing small chemical businesses in different economic systems grow in over 40 countries around the world.

Upon retirement, he started a soccer retail business that taught him the competitive value of the internet, leading to abandonment of soccer retailing to become an assistant soccer coach, an adjunct, and finally a professor at DelVal.

Viel brings a great deal of experiential business knowledge to the University’s business students, which of course fits neatly into DelVal’s principal philosophy of combining theory with practice. He continues to foster business innovation and entrepreneurship through DelVal’s Small Business and Entrepreneurship Center (SBEC).
