Join us for a discussion on how people in different professions share information about the Holocaust, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 6:30-8 p.m. in the Life Sciences Auditorium. This event is facilitated by Honors Program Director, Dr. Allison Buskirk-Cohen, and is in collaboration with DelVal's Education in Crisis colloquium series. 

Panelists
Dr. Henry Sandberg

Dr. Henry Sandberg is a historian with extensive teaching experience. His dissertation focused on Simeon Solomon, a second-generation Pre-Raphaelite Jewish artist. He has presented at multiple conferences, including the Midwest Jewish Studies Association. Currently, Dr. Sandberg serves as a lecturer in history at DelVal, where he teaches American History & Government since 1877, Modern History of Western Societies, and Cultural Anthropology.

Dr. Krista Hegburg

Dr.Krista Hegburg is the Senior Program Officer in the Division of International Academic Programs of the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies, where she runs the International Research Workshop Program. Over the course of her career at the Museum, she has designed and launched several domestic and international initiatives to expand programming into new and underserved areas, including the Mandel Center’s Campus Outreach Symposia, its Global South Initiative, and its programming in the former Soviet Union. Prior to joining the Museum, Dr. Hegburg taught in the Department of Anthropology at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and at the University of Lower Silesia in Wrocław, Poland. She is an advisory board member of the Prague Forum for Romani Histories. Dr. Hegburg holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from Columbia University.

Rabbi Lance J. Sussman, Ph.D.

Rabbi Lance J. Sussman, Ph.D., is an educator and 2nd-generation Holocaust survivor. He served as Senior Rabbi at Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel from 2001 to 2022. Rabbi Sussman earned his undergraduate degree in religious studies at Franklin & Marshall College and his master’s degree and Ph.D. in American Jewish History at Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion. He is the immediate past chair of the Board of Governors of Gratz College, specializing in the study of the Holocaust and genocide, and has taught courses in Jewish history at various institutions, including DelVal. Rabbi Sussman has authored several books, his most recent a collection of sermons entitled, Portrait of an American Rabbi: In His Own Words.
