DelVal painters prominently featured

Two painters from Delaware Valley University have created work that is being featured in the area. Linda Lefevre, director of admission for continuing and professional studies, is one of several Pennsylvania artists whose work is on exhibit in the Governor’s Mansion in Harrisburg. Dr. Tony LaSalle, associate professor of education, has been selected to paint garden benches for a Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve fundraiser.

Lefevre’s painting, “Chicago Figure Series #2,” is part of a semi-permanent installation of art from the State Museum and other Pennsylvania museums.  First Lady of Pennsylvania Frances Wolf chose the painting for display in the Erie Room of the Governor’s Mansion. Lefevre painted it when she attended summer session classes at the Art Institute of Chicago. Governor Wolf and First Lady Frances Wolf held a reception honoring the artists April 13 at the Governor’s Mansion in Harrisburg.  The Governor's Residence is open for public tours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. during the months of April, May, June, September and October. Dr. LaSalle will be helping Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve with fundraising by custom painting park benches, which will be auctioned off at the Preserve’s 13th Annual Spring Wildflower Gala on April 30. The funds from the benches will support the Preserve’s Pocket Meadow Initiative. The project will bring meadows to local schools and public spaces to teach children about nature. In what used to be empty spaces, children will be able to learn about native plants, gardening, wildlife, diversity, seasons and sustainability.
