DelVal professor to present at turf conference

Dr. Doug Linde, a Delaware Valley University professor of turf management, has been selected to give two presentations at the 2017 Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) Education Conference, which will be held in Orlando from Feb. 4 through Feb. 9. The annual conference is part of the Golf Industry Show presented by GCSAA and National Golf Course Owners Association, along with participating partners: the Golf Course Builders Association of America, the American Society of Golf Course Architects, the National Golf Foundation, the United States Golf Association, the International Golf Course Equipment Managers Association and supporting partner the Society of Golf Appraisers.

The conference and trade show give golf course superintendents, owners, builders, and other golf management professionals the opportunity to educate themselves on the latest trends in turf and facility care. The Golf Industry Show is the world's largest golf course and facility management event.

Dr. Linde will be leading a two-hour seminar, “Internships: How to Attract Great Interns and How to Secure the Internship to Launch Your Career." The highlight of the seminar will be speed interview sessions, which will give students and potential employers the opportunity to interact with each other. Dr. Linde will also present, “Measuring and Managing Putting Green Trueness,” as part of the conference sessions. The presentation is based on Dr. Linde’s recent putting green research.

Dr. Linde specializes in preparing college students for turf industry careers. He is the academic and career advisor for all turf students and teaches seven classes related to turf management. Dr. Linde is also the University’s head golf coach, the son of a golf course superintendent and a 27-year member of GCSAA.

“Being a presenter at this huge conference will be great exposure for DelVal and its turf management program," said Dr. Linde. “Plus, it’s a great way for me to meet up with many of our alumni in the golf industry.”
