The Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and Tau Sigma Honor Society Gained New Members at DelVal

On Sunday, March 27, 58 Delaware Valley University (DelVal) students were inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) Honor Society, a national honor society for students who achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher in their first term at DelVal. On the same day, 21 students were inducted into the Tau Sigma (TS) Honor Society, a national honor society for transfer students who achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher in one full term.

Students and their families filled the Life Sciences Building auditorium for the ceremonies which took place one after another. The Alpha Lambda Delta Ceremony was held at 1 p.m. and the Tau Sigma Ceremony was held at 3 p.m. At the ceremony, students watched a virtual welcome presentation from the Alpha Lambda Delta Society and Tau Sigma Honor Society. Students were each called by name to receive their certificate and honor society pin from the honor society president.

“On behalf of Delaware Valley University, we wish to express our pride and congratulations to you all,” said Andrew Moyer, assistant dean of students and ceremony facilitator. “In relating your education to the world in which you live, you can make a meaningful contribution to society.”

Alpha Lambda Delta “provides a community of scholars, a platform to develop leadership skills, and financial support through scholarships and educational partners”. ALD has been guiding students to academic and career success for over 95 years. Tau Sigma, established in 1999, is “designed specifically to recognize and promote the academic excellence and involvement of transfer students.”

Erin King ‘22, biology major and treasurer of DelVal’s Chapter of Tau Sigma, describes the honor society as a way to build connections that serve as a foundation for success even after graduation.

“Transferring to a school is a different experience than starting at a school your freshman year, and Tau Sigma is like a support group for transfer students,” said King. “Being a part of Tau Sigma helps academically, socially, and with getting involved on campus.”

For King, being a part of Tau Sigma means she has built relationships that will benefit her for years to come.

Congratulations to the new members of Alpha Lambda Delta and Tau Sigma!
