Rachel Carter

After graduating from DelVal's equine science program, Rachel earned her Master's of Science in Animal Science from University of Connecticut. Her research examined the effects of milk replacer on the growth and development of Beef x Dairy crossbred calves. Carter also conducted research on maternal and fetal programming through a multigenerational ovine model. 

Several months after graduating, Carter began a research technician position within a Kinesiology Laboratory at UConn, where she sharpened her laboratory skills and worked with both human and mouse subjects. This laboratory examined the effects of both aging and diet on mitochondrial function, vascular function, and muscle development. During her time at UConn, she mentored many undergraduate students, which propelled her into a teaching position after recognizing her enthusiasm for sharing knowledge with students. Carter values providing real-world experiences to students can close the gap between lecture materials and different experiences seen in industries.

"I am invested in education because I would like to provide not only knowledge and information, but also guidance and support to students during their time at college," said Carter.
